Orthopaedic Unit
The Orthopaedic Unit consists of an interdisciplinary team of Physiotherapists and an Occupational Therapist who provide a comprehensive service to treat patients with multiple fractures, joint replacements, burns, amputations, musculo-skeletal conditions and soft tissue deformities .
With the aim of achieving functional independence treatment may include:
- Soft tissue treatment, joint mobilizations and myofascial release
- Dry Needling
- Aquatherapy
- Home and work visits where appropriate
- Exercise prescription
- Gait Rehabilitation
- Referral for appropriate orthotics, prosthetics, walking aids, pressure garments and other equipment as needed
- Individualized home programs
- Lower limb and trunk strengthening / endurance classes
- Upper limb and trunk strengthening classes
- Carer training
