Our Social Responsibility

Rita Henn & Partners is focussed on community involvement, skills development and transfer and contributing to the broader rehabilitation environment in Africa.  We are currently involved in the following ways:
 
Representation or Membership on the following committees:

• South African Society of Physiotherapy (SASP)
• Occupational Therapy Association of South Africa (OTASA)
• South African Speech, Language and Hearing Association (SA SLHA)
• Neurological Rehabilitation Group of the SASP
• Southern African Spinal Cord Association

Training and development of undergraduate students from WITS University in:

• Physiotherapy
• Occupational Therapy
• Speech Therapy
• Assisting in the training of undergraduate students from the University of Pretoria in Seating Technology and Research
• Assisting with masters training of WITS physiotherapy students

Community development: 

• Carer training in the Daveyton (Etwatwa) community with post-stroke patients and their care-givers
• Supporting Disabled Persons Organizations
• Sponsoring delegates and presenters to courses and workshops 

Current Research:

• The evolution of a task oriented training programme and its potential in the Private Healthcare Sector in RSA.  
• The effectiveness of minimal task oriented group training on stroke survivors QOL and patients perspectives.
• Does a little go along way?
• Prevelance of return to work following traumatic brain injury.

• A comparison of three approaches to weekend rehabilitation on the functional outcome of patients in the acute stage post-stroke.

Previous Research:

• Physical abilities of community-dwelling adults more than six months post stroke: a cross sectional survey.
